Stepper: how many calories burned?

Ah, the famous calories! When we get back to sport, when we have to choose which device we are going to buy, the question of the number of calories we will be able to burn is often asked. 

And this is quite normal, calories allow to give an idea of the capacity of the device to make us lose weight.

But what exactly is a calorie? This is the unit of measurement used to quantify the energy supplied to the body by the food we eat. Per day :

  • a woman needs on average 1800 to 2200 kcal
  • a man needs on average 2400 to 2700 kcal

Be careful, however, this is only an estimate. The number of calories burned while stepping is very variable , depending on your weight, the duration of your session. Likewise, your stepper’s calorie burn counters don’t give the exact number – these are estimates too.

The stepper is an efficient device for burning a lot of calories. In comparison, for a 70 kg person and a 30-minute session :

  • the stepper burns around 250 calories
  • running (at around 10km / h) burns 340 calories

Calories burned while stepping can be viewed, even noted, if that motivates you. In all cases, the important thing is to practice regularly while having fun stepping in order to benefit from the benefits. 

And over time, you will naturally give less importance to this number of calories burned than the number of sessions performed and the time spent playing sports.
